Jock, with respect I really think you are over-reacting to the _Guardian's_
use of the word "so-called". All the paper meant, I feel quite sure,
is that the word "corpus" is not widely understood by their readership
so that attention needed to be drawn to it when it was introduced into
their column -- it was like saying "careful, folks, technical term coming
up, this is what the experts call it". There is nothing even faintly
insulting about that. It is one standard use of inverted commas.
