Hi,

We are planning to build a corpus of Japanese college students' English
writings, and we need to get some input from you as to the choice of the
scanner and the OCR programs. Yes, we DO already have a scanner (Epson
GT-6000) and an OCR software (MacReader v2.5) in our lab butwe are
wondering if there are better ones out there that meet the following
constraints:

1. OS: The machine will be a PowerMac (using a Japanese system KanjiTalk
7.5.1), so the scanner/OCR must be a Mac/PPC-compatible (or better still,
native!) one.

2. Budget: Must be less than $3000 or so for each.

Needless to say, all the writings will be typed, so no hand-writing
recognition is involved.

Any input will be welcome -- cons & pros for our current setting,
recommendations for some other models/softwares, or even addresses of sites
with this type of info.

Thanks a lot,

Kenjiro Matsuda
