    If you're running Linux you can try the TreeTagger which is freely
    downloadable from
    http://www.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/projekte/corplex/TreeTagger/DecisionTreeTagger.html
    It supports French (as well as German, English and Italian).
    There is a Windows version too but it's not free.
    We've just integrated a wrapper for it in GATE and had pretty good results
    with it so far, though I don't have figures for the exact accuracy yet.
