    5th Dutch-Belgian Information Retrieval Workshop (DIR'05)

    The fifth Dutch-Belgian Workshop on Information Retrieval will take place on
    10 and 11 January 2005 at Utrecht University in Utrecht. The primary aim of
    the workshop is to provide an international meeting place where researchers,
    who are working in the domain of information retrieval and related
    disciplines can exchange information and present new research developments.
    This year, there is a special interest in contributions focusing on
    multimedia- and structured document retrieval.

    Call for papers
    ===============

    Authors who are interested in presenting original research at the workshop
    are invited to submit papers on or before November 15, 2004. Papers should
    be maximum 8 pages long, and formatted in ACM SIG Proceedings style.
    Submissions will be reviewed by at least two domain experts. Papers can
    cover any topic related to IR, including:

        * Multimedia IR, video retrieval, audio retrieval
        * Structured document retrieval, XML-IR
        * Retrieval models, language models
        * Text representation, information extraction, text summarisation,
        * text categorisation, topic tracking and event detection
        * Query processing, thesaurus construction, user models
        * Cross-language IR
        * IR for the Web, XML and meta-data, link analysis
        * Question answering systems
        * Domain-specific IR applications
        * IR evaluation

    Papers may range from theoretical work to system-descriptions. We especially
    welcome contributions from industry.

    The conference language is English and papers need to be submitted in

    of an international journal (under negotiation).
