    Hello,

I suppose you already know the first article in which semantic prosody was introduced:

Louw, B. 1993. 'Irony in the text or insincerity in the writer? The diagnostic potential of semantic prosodies', in Baker, M. et al. (eds) Text and Technology. Amsterdam, Benjamins, 157-176.

I'd advise you to have a look at the various papers in the special issue of the International Journal of Lexicography (OUP) on "FrameNet and Frame Semantics" (September 2003), and more particularly at the following paper, which shows how concordances can be analyzed in terms of semantic prosody (inter alia):

Atkins, B.T.S., Rundell, M. & Sato, H. 2003. 'The Contribution of FrameNet to Practical Lexicography', International Journal of Lexicography, OUP, Vol.16, No.3 (September 2003), 333-357.

Given what you are looking for, I think Patrick Hanks' brand-new article in this month's issue of the same journal would also be very interesting:

Hanks, P. 2004. 'The Syntagmatics of Metaphor and Idiom', in International Journal of Lexicography, OUP, Vol.17, No.3 (September 2004), 245-274.

    I hope it'll be useful,
    Best wishes,

    Thierry

Subject: [Corpora-List] concordances and semantic contexts and prosody: looking for bibliographical references

    Dear all,

I'm looking for pubblications regarding the analysis of concordances in terms of semantic contexts and prosody, but I've not been able to find a useful bibliography for the moment.
Does any of you know about papers on this particular topic?

    Thanks in advance,
    Francesca Bianchi
