    Job Description

The School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh and the
Department of Psychology at the University of Glasgow invite
applications for the post of research fellow on the project ``The role
of syntactic parallelism in the processing of coordinate structures'',
funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The project will design and implement
computational models of human sentence processing, based on data from
    reading experiments investigating parallelism phenomena.

The position is suitable for a candidate with a PhD in computational
linguistics, cognitive science, or a related discipline. The
successful candidate will have strong programming skills and
experience with natural language processing techniques (e.g., parsing,
probabilistic models, corpus processing, evaluation). Experience in
experimental psycholinguistics is also desirable. He or she will be
responsible for developing and testing computational models of human
parsing, and for designing, running, and analysing reading time
experiments. The starting date will be 1 October 2004, or as soon as
    possible thereafter.

Informal enquiries can be made by email to Frank Keller
    (frank.keller@ed.ac.uk) or Patrick Sturt (patrick@psy.gla.ac.uk).
