ARDA's Northeast Regional Research Center (http://nrrc.mitre.org/) is
pleased to announce the release of Version 1.1 of the Multi-
Perspective Question Answering Corpus of Opinion Annotations
(MPQA-1.1). The development of this corpus of 530 international news
documents was funded by ARDA's Resource Enhancement Program and
annotated under the direction of Prof. Jan Wiebe and Theresa Wilson
during and after the Summer 2002 workshop on Multi-Perspective
Question Answering (MPQA). The motivation and design of the
annotation scheme were developed by the participants of the ARDA/NRRC
summer workshop, under the leadership of Prof. Jan Wiebe, and are
described in the final report of the MPQA workshop, available in the
publications section of the NRRC web site:
    http://nrrc.mitre.org/NRRC/publications.htm
The corpus itself is free and available for research purposes; it
can be downloaded from this URL:

ARDA's Northeast Regional Research Center (http://nrrc.mitre.org/) is
pleased to announce the release of Version 1.1 of the TimeBank Corpus
(TimeBank-1.1). The development of this corpus of annotated news
documents was funded by ARDA's Resource Enhancement Program and
annotated during and after the Summer 2002 NRRC workshop on Time and
Event Recognition for Question Answering Systems (TERQAS), under the
leadership of Prof. James Pustejovsky. The XML-based standard on
which this corpus is defined, TimeML, as well as the corpus itself,
was subsequently refined and enhanced by the participants of the
Summer 2003 NRRC Workshop entitled Graphical Annotation Toolkit for
TimeML, also under the leadership of Prof. James Pustejovsky. More
information about the corpus and its motivation can be obtained in the
final reports of these two workshops, available in the publications
section of the NRRC web site:
    http://nrrc.mitre.org/NRRC/publications.htm
The corpus itself is free and available for research purposes; it
can be downloaded from this URL:
