Department of Linguistics and Modern English Language

Lecturer in English Grammar (Lecturer A/B)

We are seeking to appoint a scholar in the area grammar, with an emphasis on
English grammar (past and/or present). While not wishing to limit the range of
possible applicants, the Department would be particularly interested in
appointing a candidate with one or more of the following interests: i.)
contrastive and comparative approaches to English grammar ii.) corpus-based
approaches to English grammar iii.) English dialectology. Applicants should
have, or be near to completing, a relevant PhD. They should also have a good
publication record. For more junior candidates, without an established
publication record, we will be seeking clear evidence of promise in research
publication. Finally, candidates will be required to demonstrate an ability to
teach grammar at all levels. The appointment will be made in the salary range
    £22,191 - £33,679.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 19 March 2003. In
correspondence, please quote the reference number A038.

Informal enquiries may be made to Prof. Anna Siewierska
(a.siewierska@lancaster.ac.uk). For application details and further particulars
for both posts please see www.personnel.lancs.ac.uk
