[Corpora-List] OED as corpus

Dear list members,

Is anyone aware of a publication which discusses the pros and cons of
using the OED quotations as a corpus? I have consulted John
Willinsky's "Empire of Words" and Elizabeth Murray's "Caught in the
Web of Words" but neither of them is really a linguistic appraisal of
the OED quotations.

I would also be interested in references to studies which have made
use of the OED for quantitative diachronic research.
