    CALL FOR PAPERS
A workshop on learner corpora will be held prior to Corpus Linguistics 2003, at
Lancaster University, UK. The purpose of the workshop is to present the state of the
art in learner corpus research and explore new directions in the design, development
and applications of learner corpora in linguistic and language teaching/learning
    research.

Papers are solicited concerning all aspects of learner corpora. Of particular interest
are papers describing work in the following areas:

    - corpus-based studies of interlanguage development
    - contrastive analysis of L1 and L2 corpora (L1 influence; universal vs. L1-specific error analysis)
    - learner corpus building, encoding and annotation (error tagging)
    - development of language analysis tools designed for CLC
    - applications of CLC research in syllabus/materials development and testing
    - applications of CLC research in SLA research
    - applications of CLC research in developing teacher training programmes

The workshop will present invited lectures, poster sessions, and panel discussions
on these topics. The length of the workshop will depend upon how much response
    we get.

Abstracts of up to one page should be submitted to the Programme Committee by 1st
Dec 2002. As well as an outline of the paper, the abstract should include the authors'
