Dear Colleagues,
The CoNLL programme committee and organisers and SIGNLL, ACL's special
interest group on natural language learning, are pleased to invite you
to participate in CoNLL-2002, the sixth Conference on Natural Language
Learning. A preliminary programme is available on
http://www.aclweb.org/signll/conll02/ .
CoNLL-2002 is organized in cooperation with SIGDAT, who have merged
this year's Very Large Corpora (VLC) workshop with CoNLL-2002. Also, the
Learning Language in Logic (LLL) workshop series has merged with this
year's event.
CoNLL-2002 features an invited talk by John Lafferty (School of
Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University) on "Models, Kernels, and
Algorithms for Discrete Data". CoNLL also features two sessions on
this year's special theme "unsupervised and semi-supervised
learning". And as part of a tradition, CoNLL-2002 includes
presentations of a shared task on "language-independent named entity
recognition".
CoNLL-2002 is held immediately after the COLING-2002 main conference,
as a two-day workshop on 31 August and 1 September at the Academia
Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan.
