The Longman Corpus seems to correspond pretty well with a larger sample of
texts (written by a very heterogeneous group of people), although the
relative frequencies of these variants are different. Is it just
mispelling, or could "prononciation" be partly due to French influence?
Without doubt, this word is difficult to spell, let alone its
    pronounciation :-)
