    Dear All,

    I have been trying unsuccessfully to locate an web resource that
    would contain example sentences illustrating English usage (words,
    phrases structures) - of the kind found in dictionaries today. Such
    collections are obviously well guarded property of ELT publishers but
    perhaps there is something like this available somewhere in the
    public domain? I would appreciate any pointers.

    Alternatively/additionally, I'll be grateful for tips on publications
    describing automated methods of deriving good one-sentence
    illustrations from corpora.
