    The Department of Computer Science of the Darmstadt University of
    Technology and the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft invite applications for the
    position of

    Full Professor (C4)
    "Media Content Engineering and e-Learning"

    The position is available at the earliest possible date and is linked to
    heading a research group at one of the Fraunhofer institutes. (Ref.-no.:
    175).
    The research area should include systems, methods and tools for
    designing and creating digital media based contents (Content
    Engineering) and for multimedia interactive e-learning. The ideal
    candidate should have considerable experience in research and be able to
    provide evidence of achievement in several of the following areas:

    Media Content Engineering:
    - methods and tools for media content design within the area of
      digital media (Content Design, e. g. Storyboarding for Digital
      Video, tools for Graphical Design and Web Design, etc.)
    - concepts and techniques for knowledge-based multimedia content
      management, knowledge creation and knowledge encoding of interactive
    multimedia materials (Content Authoring)
    - technologies, tools and workflows for digital media content
      production and storage (Content Engineering)
    e-Learning:
    - using new media to support teaching and learning
    - system architectures, data models, interfaces and platforms for IT
      supported teaching and learning environments
    - review and evaluation of the usability, efficiency and acceptance of
      e-learning (Utilities and Usability Engineering)
    - techniques and reliability checks with respect to quality assurance
      in e-learning

    Combining e-Learning and Media Content Creation
    - methods for providing contents in e-learning environments and for
      integrated cooperative learning scenarios.

    The research activities are expected to meet the highest academic
    standards and to be applications-oriented. Within research the candidate
    is expected to be instrumental in establishing and managing an
    independent research group at the Fraunhofer IPSI (Integrated
    Publication and Information Systems Institute). Fraunhofer intends to
    appoint this person to the management board of IPSI.
    The candidate is also expected to participate in the general teaching
    activities of the department. Fluency in German is not a requirement but
    would have to be acquired in a relatively short time.
    The applicant must possess the appropriate academic qualifications
    expected for a C4 professorship position. In addition to these research
    qualifications, teaching ability should also be documented in the
    application. Employment is subject to the requirements of paragraph 71
    of the Hessian University Law (§771 HHG Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
    The Darmstadt University of Technology and the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft
