    Dear Corpora Subscribers,

My colleagues and I would appreciate you circulating this mail to students
and others who might be interested in the position offered below.

    Regards,
    Gerard

Research Position at Chemnitz University of Technology.

We, at the English Department at TU Chemnitz, are in the process of
establishing a reputation as specialists in the field of On-line Learning
and we're in search of young, talented and motivated graduates to help us
    achieve this goal.
Our current projects encompass the fields of computational linguistics,
corpus linguistics, natural language processing, applied linguistics, and
second-language acquisition, not to mention the issues of Internet
Programming and Multimedia User-Interface Design attendant upon the creation
    of a top-class, multi-functional E-Learning System.

We want your skills, ideas, and enthusiasm. In return we offer you the
benefits of gaining experience as a functional member of a research team,
the opportunity to hone your specialisations, extend your knowledge and
    expand your skills.
The position will be for one year initially, with the possibility of
continuing with an extended contract. We hope that you will be able to
complete a PhD thesis (or research monograph) in the area of language
acquisition, contrastive grammar, web-learning, etc. Payment will be on the
Bat IIa/2 (Ost) scale and the salary level dependent on age and experience.

    Qualifications:
You will have a "masters" degree in a relevant subject. You should also have
a strong interest in the use of the Web and Corpora for language teaching
and learning. The working language of the research team is English, so
fluency would be a definite advantage (if you are not a native speaker). You
must show the capacity for developing ideas and the skills to see them
    through.
To this end, we would like you to send us not only your CV, but a copy of
your M.A./M.Sc (or equivalent) thesis and a Covering Letter in which you
describe how you think you could add to our research projects and goals.
