    Second AGFL Workshop on
    Syntactic Description and Processing of Natural Language
    January 24 and 25, 2002
    Nijmegen, The Netherlands

    CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

    In January 2002 the AGFL Grammar Workbench for Natural Language
    Processing becomes available under the GNU Public Licence.

    This event will be underlined with
    a workshop directed at computer linguists and corpus linguists
    who are actively involved in the development and use of grammars
    for natural languages and the applications of parsing technology
    in Information Retrieval and NLP.

    The workshop focusses on the AGFL formalism (Affix Grammars over a
    Finite Lattice) and its application in natural language processing.

    The format of the meeting is: presentations of ongoing research with
    ample opportunity for detailed questions; discussions of themes of
    common interest.

    Participation is open to any researchers or students interested.

       A technique for measuring parser accuracy.

     - I. Azarova, University of St. Peterburg, RUS
       The matching of AGFL subcategories to Russian lexical and grammatical
       groupings.

     - P. Santalla del Rio, University of Santiago de Compostela, ES
       "Multifunctionality" and ambiguity resolution.

     - J. Smeets, KU Nijmegen, NL
       a subcategorisation model for Dutch and its implementation in AGFL.

     - B. Elffers, KU Nijmegen, NL
       Transducing Dutch utterances into Head/Modifier pairs.

     - S. Al-Ansary, University Cairo, EGYPT
       An Affix Grammar for a Comparative Corpus-Based Study of Spoken and
       Written NPs in MSA.

     - E. Ditters, KU Nijmegen, NL
       An AGFL Sentence Delimiter for the Parsing of Arabic Text Data.

    The full text of the working papers will be available at the Workshop.

    REGISTRATION

    The Attendance Fee will be 20 Euro's to cover the price of
    lunches, refreshments and proceedings. Students free, but no lunch.
