    Dear list members,

in response to my question on the availability of DTDs for audio/video
annotation, I received a number of interesting hints the top 5 of which
I would like to summarize shortly. The order is how I reeceived the
    mails.

    1) Geoffrey Sampson <geoffs@cogs.susx.ac.uk> recommended the TalkBank
    project and this
turned out to be central to my question.<http://www.TalkBank.org/>
    2) Joel Kuipers <kuipers@gwu.edu> directed my attention to the ATLAS
software, and this, too, was extremely helpful.
    3) Chris Brew <cbrew@acm.org> suggested I might contact the folks from
MPI Nijmegen, and I will shortly try
    this.<http://www.mpi.nl/world/tg/lapp/eudico/eudico.html>
    4) The same holds for the recommendation by Mark Lewellen
<lewellen@ahlt.net>, who pinted out the importance of the work of
    Helen Meng for my project.
       <http://www.se.cuhk.edu.hk/PEOPLE/hmmeng.html>
    5) Lee Gillam <l.gillam@eim.surrey.ac.uk> brought
    <http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-smil/> to my
attention, which will be the next thing I look at.

    Thanks to all of you,
    Peter Kühnlein
