    Hi,

I'm a headhunter who uses my MA/Linguistics background to specialize in
Computational Linguistics and related areas. Several new opportunities
have developed for Computational Linguistics professionals, and now have
positions in Research and Development, as well as ecommerce applications
    companies.

The geographic spread, in the US, is from Rhode Island and Boston in New
England, to the Bay Area of California. At least one of these employers
will sponsor non-US citizens' for work visas.

Pasted below are detailed descriptions of five immediate opportunities.

Please let me know if you know anyone with the requisite skills and
    abilities.

    Thanks.

    Kent

We are seeking a very bright, self-motivated individual with experience in developing applications of corpus-based natural language processing, information retrieval, data mining, parsing, sense disambiguation, or other related products. This individual will be in charge of developing new algorithms for web-search enhancement, automatically extending our current database, and future products. Individuals with supervisory experience preferred as we expand our team of researchers. MA, Ph.D. or equivalent industry experience required.

    -----------------Opportunity 2---------------

My client is introducing the next major technology platform beyond search engines. We are looking for experienced, high energy and talented people, who are excited about being on the cutting edge of Internet knowledge technology. You will play a role in developing the new generation of breakthrough knowledge services. This new technology platform raises the bar of knowledge services to a higher level of minimum acceptable performance. Our ontology-enabled solution is fundamentally language-independent and can easily be modified to support every jargon-rich community (social and economic) on the planet.

Title: Natural Language Processing Developer (2 positions) Location: Boston, MA Responsibilities: *Developer and project manager for a high performance knowledge indexing system, using ontologies, NLP, Machine Learning and other advanced techniques. *Full cycle software development: use case analysis, requirements analysis, project planning, system design, object oriented analysis and design, implementation, testing, product delivery and maintenance. *Work closely with Customer Support and Sales and Marketing.

You Offer: Required: *Entrepreneurial spirit. Willing to work hard now to create company value and rewards of stock ownership. *C++, Java, CORBA, Object oriented methodologies *Unix platform *One or more of the following: Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, XML, RDF, XLL, high performance database systems, knowledge representation, Rational Rose

Responsibilities Develop and integrate the NLP components with a high performance knowledge indexing system. Years of Experience Desired 3 +

    -----------------Opportunity 3---------------

Position Title: Senior and Junior Knowledge Representation Research Scientists

Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Representation, Machine Learning Researchers

My client is a research lab in Silicon Valley, with a variety of world-class innovations to its credit, and a world class reputation for excellence.

An innovative manager has opened up the usually restrictive recruiting process in search of Knowledge Representation Gurus. There will be up to three (or more) positions for excellent candidates, at both Senior and Junior levels. This manager is committed to building a team dedicated to fundamental research in new ways of doing document and content management in a net-based world. Specifically, this energetic, multi-disciplinary team will conduct research to advance the state of the art in knowledge representation and reasoning systems. Their goal is to refine semi-automatic knowledge structuring, and to find ways of applying this in the context of a real community and knowledge base.

Relevant backgrounds include, but are not limited to: Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Representation, NLP, Conceptual Representation, Symbolic Reasoning, Qualitative Reasoning.

We are open to applications from candidates who are not currently authorized to work in the US.

Our research team is developing reasoning systems for specific domains that take as input the context of a task and the content of the domain. The team will also explore alternatives for effectively interacting with and supporting existing community work practices.

Required: * Ph.D. in artificial intelligence or a related field. *Expertise in one or more of the following: knowledge representation systems, natural language interpretation, model based and probabilistic reasoning, machine learning *Programming ability: Lisp, Scheme, and/or Java

    -----------------Opportunity 4---------------

Job Title: Computational Linguist Location: Dallas, TX Description of Work Duties: To assist in the development of NL-related tools and architectures for my client’s product range. NL tasks will be as varied as document segmentation, efficient spelling-correction algorithms, syntactic parsing of NL questions and the construction of semantic representations
