    As a result of recent expansions opportunities have arisen to make
     several appointments at the University of Sunderland.

    People on this list might be particularly interested in three lecturer/
    senior lecturer positions in the areas CETL64 below, including intelligent
    systems where we focus in particular on hybrid neural symbolic systems,
    natural language engineering, neural adaptive systems
    and we welcome applications from people working in this area
    and all other areas.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Opportunities in Computing and Engineering at
    the University of Sunderland

    The School of Computing, Engineering and Technology at the University of
    Sunderland draws together the disciplines of Computing, Mathematical
    Sciences, Engineering and Technology. The School enjoys a strong
    student base and a growing research profile, with several EPSRC and
    EU-funded projects. The School was awarded a 3A (Computer Science) and
    3B (General Engineering) in the 1996 Research Assessment Exercise and is
    steadily improving its research profile in both areas. The School is
    housed on two sites, and provides first-class computing and engineering
    facilities.

    You should have a strong research profile and will make a contribution
    to the postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. You should have a
    higher degree (preferably a PhD) and a good research profile/industrial
    experience. As a result of recent expansions, particularly in the
    postgraduate portfolio of the School, opportunities have arisen to make
    the following appointments:

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Project Management
    The School has a vibrant team in the area of Engineering Management and
    Manufacturing Operations Management. You will be an enthusiastic
    individual with project management, lecturing and research experience
    who can contribute to the new MSc Project Management, and related
    undergraduate provision.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Software Engineering
    You will have a strong research and teaching background in Software
    Engineering and will contribute to a new MSc in Software Engineering,
    undergraduate provision and a strong research profile in this area of
    Computer Science. Ideally you should complement the current research
    strengths in Software Quality, Object-oriented Systems and Testing.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computing - 3 Posts
    To contribute to teaching, research and other initiatives in computing,
    particularly in the areas of Software Engineering/Programming; and/or
    Networks/Communications. You should have experience in one of these key
    areas as well as the enthusiasm to make a strong contribution to our
    research and reach-out activities. You will join a large and
    enthusiastic team of staff delivering a range of computing programmes,
    and undertaking research in the areas of software engineering,
    intelligent systems, human computer systems and decision support
    systems.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Engineering
    To contribute to teaching, research and other initiatives in the areas
    of Multimedia and Computer Applications. You will join an active team
    in a major development area for the School. You should have experience
    of, or the capability to develop skills in the areas of computer systems
    and/or micro-controllers, multimedia, animation and 3D modelling as well
    as a general capability in programming. You will be enthusiastic with
    the drive to push forward this exciting and challenging area.
