Hi again.

Remember me? I sent a message to the list a few days ago asking after Perl resources for IR. First of all, thanks to all of you who pointed me in a lot of useful directions.

I've found that CPAN (Comprehensive Perl Archive Network) is the best Perl material container. Well, to tell the truth CPAN is the first site I had looked into. The problem is that CPAN has several search engines, and I was trying the bad ones.

I think the best, and the only needed, CPAN search engine is http://theory.uwinnipeg.ca/search/cpan-search.html, because it can perform a deeper search into the Perl packages, inspecting all the modules contained into them. Example: Porter's stemming algorithm is a module contained into the perlindex package, but the package description makes no reference to Porter's algorithm. That was the problem with the other CPAN search engines, they search only at "package level". This one allows searching at different detail levels.

I am not sure if you can find the same search engine in a better (closer to you) CPAN mirror, because I think that some mirrors are only partial mirrors.

Well, I hope this may come in useful for some other Perl hacker out there.

Regards.

Pablo Gallego.
