There has been work on English spoken language analysis from
non-native German and Italian adults at the International Computer
Science Institute at Berkeley about three years ago or so
(http://www.icsi.berkeley.edu). Part of this occurred
within the BerP project, but there was also additional work
on English spoken corpora and foreign accent detection from
non-native learners (German, Italian, and others) in their
speech group.
