I think that would defeat the purpose of an email list as
a forum for discussion. If people were posting only to
me there would be no way to judge if I had fairly represented
their comments. For something as important and as controversial
as a theory of syntax and NLP tools that can out perform all
others, but yet is not using one of the established theories,
this would not be the best choice. I may frame my comments
in a somewhat challenging manner but the fact remains, there
are thousands of researchers and millions of dollars being
spent every year hoping to do exactly what I have proposed
in those standards (again look closely-those standareds are
obvious and valuable NLP features). The fact that success is
coming with far less money and far fewer researchers is a reality
that needs to be dealt with by researchers in both academia and
industry. An open forum is the best place for this. Attempts
to stifle an open discussion is more than a little suspicious.
