I am a little new to the area of information retrieval (IR) coming
from a background in theoretical syntax, but I would like to find a
list of references concerning comparative results in IR. That is
I am looking for papers, chapters in books, web pages, and so on
that give a good critical review of the sorts of results that are
being obtained in IR these days and the relative merits of the
systems which are used to achieve these results. I have of course
seen the SIGIR site and other sites like it, but I am especially
interested in comparative discussions of results from different
systems on the same data. This sort of material seems a little more
difficult to find. I realize that most IR does not use very much NLP,
but I am especially interested in discussions of the use of NLP with
IR in this context. Please respond to me privately and I will post a
summary to the list, please mention if you do not want your name
mentioned in the summary.
