Corpora: Setting up BNC on a PC

On my return to the UK I'm planning to set up BNC on a PC.

I will be using a P300 or better, with 64 MB RAM and an 8.2 GigaByte
Hard Disk. I'll be able to use either Windows 95 or NT. I will be
working with subsets of the corpus most of the time, probably bia
WordSmith. I understand that WinZip 6.3 can now handle TAR files.

My reason for working with a PC is that I have no experience of Unix and
will be using the corpus at home. I'm also much happier with some of
the features in WordSmith (eg search on tags) than those available with
Sara.

Does anyone have experience of setting up BNC in such an environment?
I'd be hugely grateful for advice, comments.

Thanks

Chris Tribble
