MABLe Project -Research Assistant
Researcher A (Fixed Term, 7 months)
10018 - 13871 U.K. pounds per annum (pro rata) depending on
age, qualifications and experience.

The University of Sunderland School of Computing and
Information Systems wish to appoint a research assistant
to work on their contribution to the EU Framework IV
Language Engineering Project MABLe (Multilingual
Authoring of Business Letters). The duties will focus on
the extension and refinement of the grammar for business
correspondence which we have already constructed during
the project, including mechanisms to ensure the letters are
cohesive and coherent.

The successful candidate will have a first degree and/or
Masters in linguistics or computational linguistics. They
must be computer literate and preferably have some
familiarity with MS Access and with text linguistics.
Appointees may register for a Ph.D. or an M.Phil. on a full
or part-time basis.

The Natural Language Engineering Group at the
University have recently obtained membership of the
European Language and Speech Network (ELSNET), an
EU sponsored Network of Excellence. There are over 70
research staff and students in the School, and over 50
academic staff, housed in a new building of exceptional
architectural merit.
