Dear All,

I am currently doing some work on collocations in the British
National Corpus with colleagues here at Lancaster and in Chemnitz. As part
of this work, we are interested in finding some volunteers to discover and
rate collocates of various words based on corpus data we send them. If you
would like to take part in the experiment, you will be sent a series of
concordances (around ten) plus some instructions outlining what we would
like you to do. The concordances range in length from around 130 lines to
around 400. One or two will know exactly what I am doing because you are
participating already - in that case just ignore this email!

If you would like to take part in the experiment, reply to me
personally. For experimental reasons, could you please give your gender,
age, nationality and give a brief statement outlining your previous
experience of deriving collocations (a sentence or two should suffice). I
would like to emphasise that in any publications arising from the work the
personal identity of the respondents will be kept entirely confidential.

Thanks,

Tony
