I am arranging a session at the upcoming meeting of the Canadian
Society for the History and Philosophy of Science to be held at the
University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, May 28 to May 30. The topic of the
session is 'Experimental Reasoning' -- i.e., the arguments or reasoning
strategies scientists use in experimental research.

Those interested in participating in such a session should send an
abstract of a paper on this topic (by fax, e- or snail mail) to

The deadline for submissions is January 31, 1998. Abstracts
must be no longer than 350 words, single-spaced, and papers should be
no longer that 25 minutes (when delivered).

Final decisions regarding the session are made by the CSHPS
Program committee. Individuals will be notified of the Committee's
decision by March 1998.

Graduate students, and individuals in other disciplines (particularly
the experimental sciences) are welcome to submit papers as well.
