It's true that you cannot edit Microsoft's master dictionary. The company that
created it, Inso Corp. in Boston (www.inso.com), can create a custom version for
you, but I do not know whether they still provide this service. (They don't
advertise this service, but they've done it for a number of customers in the
past.) For large word lists, this results in a system that runs as quickly as
the standard product version; however, it costs you $$$, so it wouldn't make
sense unless you're loaded and/or plan to resell the dictionary.
