I am interested in building an engine for suggesting alternatives to
(english) words that have been identified, by a spellchecker, as incorrect.
Can anyone point me to work on algorithms for developing possible
alternatives ?
For example, if the word 'beqtifl' is presented, what efficient
algorithms are there for generating 'beautiful' , 'bequest' etc?
Is soundex a useful approach ?
