Speech Machines is a small, leading edge, speech technology company with
currently 12 employees. We are located at the foot of the Malvern hills,
Worcestershire, UK and have been working in close collaboration with the
Speech Research Unit of the Defense Research Agency for several years.
Our main interest lies in large vocabulary speech recognition with an
emphasis on dictation. We are about to launch a new product as well as a
new research program and we expect to expand to about 30 employees by April
next year.
We are looking for a person with experience in language modeling in order
to head our language modeling activities. The applicant will be responsible
for extending Speech Machines' current state of the art language modeling
and for researching new techniques which deliver improved performance.
Although the problems involved do consitute leading edge research our aim
is commercial.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute good ideas to tricky
problems that arise in our emerging products and should possess most of
the following:
-A good graduate degree in computer science, engineering or related
discipline
-Experience of C/C++ programming in a UNIX environment
-Good software Engineering skills
-Previous exposure to statistical techniques and language modeling in
particular
