General Description:
The Context Development Department of Kurzweil AI, a division of Lernout &
Hauspie, is responsible for developing speech recognition contexts for our
dictation software. We are seeking a candidate to collect, analyze, and
develop the data necessary to customize these products for a variety of
medical, legal, and other professional fields. The position entails contact
with outside professionals and internal teams at Kurzweil, to collect large
numbers of documents used to train our software. Tasks involve negotiating
agreements for the exchange of data, overseeing the transfer of data to our
offices, and evaluation and processing of the data. The successful
candidate will be skilled in statistical analysis, have strong interpersonal
and communications skills, be able to manage a number of projects
simultaneously, and be comfortable working with computers and a variety of
data formats. Experience with statistical natural language processing is a
plus; experience working with the medical or legal professions helpful.
Other responsibilities include:
Analysis and development of strategies to capture data from sources
including internet, specialty trade CDs, privately owned DBs.
Acquiring and evaluating text data.
Processing data using scripts and other tools, and aiding in management of data.
Establishing criteria to judge input data quality and fit.
Contributing to the establishment of measurement criteria for judging LM
product readiness.
Development of high coverage, diverse Language Models.
Directing the activities of more junior developers.
Qualifications:
At least 3-5 years experience working in business environments.
Skilled in statistical analysis.
Demonstrated ability to interact with both technical and non-computer
professionals.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
BS/BA in relevant field.
Computer literate; UNIX, make, and scripting skills a plus.
