To the members of the Corpora list

Being away on vacation for he last two weeks (and only having an assistant
to take care of subscription requests), I have only the last days been
aware of the discussion of spamming and moderation of the list.

I thank you all for comments and valuable suggestions.

My view is that I want to keep the list unmoderated as long as possible
and to use automatic means to keep spam messages out of the list. I will
work in co-operation with he postmaster at the Univrsity of Bergen, who is
responsible for sending out the messages to the Corpora list.

As first step I have now made postings to the list only available to
members and I have a control of all new subscriptions. I also have to
go through he current list to spot spammers (I have already found one).
When we have improved our spam filters, we may relax this procedure in the
future.

I know that this procedure will be of inconvenience to some of you who
have subscribed to the list with a slightly different address than your
current one (and have an automatic forward/rewriting of the old address to
your new adress). Some of you will also get your mail from a local
redistribution list.

If you have problems in posting a message, please send a subscription
request to majordomo@uib.no with the line

subscribe corpora

and also send a message to corpora-request@hd.uib.no informing that you
have re-subscribed (and possible give the format of your original
subscription address so we can remove that address).

If you have any problems or comments, please address them to
corpora-request@hd.uib.no

Best regards
Knut Hofland
