SYSTEMS MANAGER / ELT Reference publishing

ELT Reference, Cambridge University Press, is one of the leading and most
respected publishers of materials for English Language Teaching (ELT) in the
world. We are restructuring our ELT Reference department and are looking for
a key manager to build a team to carry our Reference publishing forward into
the next millennium.

With a small dedicated team of in-house and freelance programmers, as
Systems Manager you will oversee the entire computational side of our
dictionary publishing, including the development of databases and corpus
analysis tools, and will ensure the smooth running and maintenance of the
system.

Good communication skills are essential as you will be required to liaise
with senior lexicographers on dictionary and corpus projects, with design
and production teams, and to maintain contacts with other Cambridge sites,
freelancers and external projects.

Candidates will ideally come from a computational linguistics background and
have some experience of working on database reference projects, although as
this is a managerial post requiring a range of skills, applications are
welcomed from candidates with a variety of computational backgrounds.

Experience of working with Advanced Revelation or PICK software systems
would be an advantage, although not essential.

We offer a competitive salary (which would be dependent on experience),
private health insurance, a first-class pension scheme, excellent staff
restaurant and a relocation package where appropriate.

To apply, please send a full c.v. quoting your current salary to Lynn
Hieatt, Press Personnel Director, The Edinburgh Building, Shaftesbury Road,
Cambridge CB2 2RU by 21st March 1997. Interviews will be held during April.
