It could help them tell the difference between what is not discussed
because everybody knows it and what is not discussed because everybody
agrees that it is either unknowable or useless. I am currently
struggling with this problem in other areas of computational
linguistics - I agonize for days about looking stupid, and then when I
finally ask the question I discover that nobody else knows either, but
they do know (as I didn't) that it's a longstanding problem.
