Dear Users:

Mr. Peter Burton suggested that I post this problem to the CORPORA list. Our
clients are looking up job openings using the computer.
However, a computer is pretty dumb about *synonyms* unless programmed
otherwise. If my client does a search on CUSTODIAN, but the job is listed
under JANITOR, the computer won't know what he or she is talking about,
unless the computer knows that JANITOR and CUSTODIAN are synonyms, which
it most emphatically does not, "it" being the nationwide "America's Job
Bank," maintained by the Department of Labor (I guess it is maintained by
DOL). Anyway, a major problem is to get to the synonym clusters, since
there are some 12,000 job titles involved.

Any ideas?
