Vacancy in Large Vocabulary Speech Recognition

SUMMARY: A vacancy exists for one person, preferably a graduate in
computer science, to work on large vocabulary speech recognition
within a small, leading edge commercial company.

Forum Technology and the Defence Research Agency, Malvern, have been
working together on a major DTI funded collaborative speech recognition
project. The project is based in the foot of the hills in Malvern,
Worcestershire, England. Forum is a small, young and dynamic company
which has been engaged in work on voice products and speech recognition
for some years. It continues to wish to attract bright new staff. The
Defence Research Agency, Malvern (formerly Royal Signals and Radar),
has been engaged in speech research for several decades. Its reputation
is considerable.

Forum Technology is interested in adding a new member to its existing team.
We are looking for someone to contribute good ideas to tricky problems that
arise in our emerging products. Initially, the post will involve mostly
language modelling research and development work. Although the problems
involve do consitute leading edge research our aim is commercial.

The successful candidate will be expected to possess most of the following:
-A good graduate degree in computer science
-Experience of C/C++ programming in a UNIX environment
-Good software Engineering skills
-Previous exposure to statistical techniques
