I would recommend McEnery and Wilson, Corpus Linguistics (from the
University of Edinburgh Univ. Press, Edinburgh Textbooks in Empirical
linguistics, ISBN 0-7486-0482-0, pbk). There you will find good insight
into how you should approach this question of "philosophical contra
methodological" and a good reference bibliography.

Please, don't interpret my response as meaning they discuss the
philosophy of corpus linguistics, but by reading it, you might decide to
rephrase your question, and that is always something :)
