word frequency lists?

I would be very grateful for any help a person on this bulletin board might
be able to give me. A couple of my better students have come to me asking
for English "word frequency lists." The only source they can find dates
from 1967 and treats only written English. They want a list covering (or,
I guess, purporting to approximate) spoken English. It seems to me that
given the existence of large corpora of spoken English lists must exist
providing the frequency of words in the corpus. But I don't know how to get
one. Ideas, suggestions? Thanks.
